In urban areas, the pressure of the public water supply network generally cannot meet the water pressure and volume requirements for higher floors in residential communities, necessitating the installation of secondary water supply equipment. Common secondary water supply facilities include pump rooms, water tanks (reservoirs), pumps, pressure vessels, and water supply pipelines.

Over time, the secondary water supply facilities in older residential communities have aged, and the water supply pipelines have corroded and leaked year by year. This has resulted in poor water supply conditions, including insufficient water volume during peak periods, unstable water pressure, and substandard water quality, thereby failing to ensure the residents' normal water use and severely affecting their quality of life.

To address this issue, following the release of the 'Zhangzhou City Three-Year Action Plan for Improving Urban Water Quality,' the secondary water supply equipment renovation project in Zhangzhou, Fujian, was initiated. This project involved renovating the secondary water supply facilities in 252 old residential communities across the city and simultaneously improving physical security measures, technical security facilities, and installing online water quality monitoring equipment. This solved the issues of insufficient water pressure and safety risks in the water supply systems.
